HISTORY, BACKGROUND and  DISCUSSION

Resolution No. 180, dated July 5, 2016, for BCTIFA & BCBRA Board Re-appointment, was postponed.  This new Resolution, No. 215, is being added instead of reviving the old one.

Resolution No. 27, dated April 28, 1981, authorized the establishment of an Authority for the Fort Custer Industrial Park District. Its purpose is to halt a decline of property values, increase property tax valuation, eliminate causes of decline in value, and promote growth in the Fort Custer Industrial Park.

Resolution No. 138, May 19, 2015, established the following criteria for the Board: city resident – 4 members; property owner, business owner or designee of the TIFA District – 4 members; City Manager or designee – 1 member; not less than nine (9) nor more than thirteen (13).

The BCTIFA Nominating Committee put forth the names of Erick Stewart, Alana White, and Jim Sholl for consideration.

The BCTIFA By-Laws state that members of the BCTIFA Board are "...appointed by the City Manager of the City of Battle Creek subject to the approval of the Battle Creek City Commission as the governing body."

The recommendation from the City Manager's Office is to appoint Erick Stewart, Alana White and Jim Richmond.
