A Resolution recognizing Generation E Institute as a non-profit local civic organization in the community.

BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN - 2/3/2015

Resolved by the Commission of the City of Battle Creek:

 

That Generation E Institute will be holding a raffle to help raise funds for outreach programming; and

 

Generation E Institute is attempting to obtain a charitable gaming license from the State of Michigan Bureau of State Lottery, Charitable Gaming Division; and

 

Generation E Institute, which conducts its principal activities in the City of Battle Creek, is recognized as a non-profit local civic organization for the purpose of the Traxler-McCauley-Bowman Bingo Act, MCL 432.101 et seq.









I, Victoria Houser, City Clerk of the City of Battle Creek, hereby certify the above and foregoing is a true and correct copy of a Resolution adopted by the Battle Creek City Commission at a Regular meeting held on February 3, 2015.

HISTORY, BACKGROUND and  DISCUSSION
In order for a non-profit local civic organization to obtain a Charitable Gaming License from the state, the law requires that the local municipality where the organization has its business address adopt a resolution of recognition. Adopting such a resolution will permit the organization to obtain a Charitable Gaming License so as to hold fund raising events consistent with the gaming rules promulgated by the state.
DISCUSSION OF THE ISSUE

POSITIONS
This resolution recognizes Generation E Institute as a non-profit local civic organization so as to permit it to obtain a Charitable Gaming License from the State Bureau of Lottery, Charitable Gaming Division. A review of the documents supplied to the City by the organization indicates that the recognition as a non-profit local civic organization have been met.
