SUMMARY

A Resolution amending the "2018 Fee, Bond and Insurance Schedule" for the City of Battle Creek.

BUDGETARY CONSIDERATIONS
Section 802.24 of the Codified Ordinances states the City Commission shall enact a schedule of fees required to be paid, bonds required to be posted, and insurance required to be carried, in order to obtain a license or permit from the City. A license or permit must be obtained to engage in the operation, conduct, or carrying on of any trade, profession, business, or privilege.  Additionally, the Schedule provides the fee structure for all services provided by the City, not just those related to the issuance of licenses or permits. This comprehensive listing is an excellent resource and provides invaluable information for commissioners, staff, citizens, and businesses.

HISTORY, BACKGROUND and  DISCUSSION

The following departments made minor modifications to their fee structures: Assessing, City Clerk,  Finance, Fire, Recreation, Police, Treasurer, Utility Billing, and W.K. Kellogg Airport.

Some changes are attributable to the wage increases effective July1,2018, due to contract negotiations. For all other changes, each respective department determined if the actual cost of the service had increased or decreased, and therefore the fee was required to be adjusted.
