The Calhoun County Public Health Department’s mission is to “enhance our community’s total well-being by promoting healthy lifestyles, protecting health, and preventing disease”. One of their methods for accomplishing this goal is to have a 14-member Solid Waste Management Planning Advisory Committee as mandated by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), formerly known as MDEQ. One of the members shall represent a city government. Elizabeth Paul, our Environmental Program Coordinator for the City of Battle Creek, had, until recently, been the city representative for this committee. She was offered a position in the state of Washington so, with her absence, there is a need to have someone replace her on the committee. To continue to have influence and a voice to this committee, the Department of Public Works for the City of Battle Creek is recommending Kurt Tribbett, the Engineering Administrator for the City of Battle Creek, to be appointed to this committee. Elizabeth reported to Kurt who worked closely with her on solids handling for the city and other environmental functions. He is extremely knowledgeable and articulate and would be an excellent representative for this committee.
